On the marketing side of things.  This episode I’m going to talk about…  Some marketing ideas/tactics that I changed right towards the end of the summit that helped increased registrations.

As I was busy with the summit…  We had created a promotional center.  Storehouse of all the content that the speakers could send out to their followers.  All optimized for the social media and emails.  Including their affiliate links.  

Naively I thought the speakers would dive right in there and take advantage.   Some revenue was on the line from them from the affiliate commission potential.  So they could cary a good message and drive some revenue.

it was 16 day promotional cycle.  All set up with 3 emails and 3 social posts for each platform.  I thought it would be on autopilot.  That all the speakers would take action.  But that was not the case.  

Next time I will do better with engagement with the speakers that had already done their interviews until the summit goes off.  

Numbers started out slow so I started reaching out to the speakers directly via text…  and that helped with the promotion numbers.   And I was told a secret about summit speakers…  “Summit speakers are lazy”  The extra steps of having to go to the promotional center are too much for a speaker.  So I started texting directly to speakers.  Here’s the copy, here’s the pictures optimized…  Just cut and paste them directly to the social media.  That was a game changer.  I did the same with the emails.  

Three things

  1. Stay engaged with the speakers after the interviews are done.  Give them updates to stay engaged with them.  Any update, real time updates.  There is no perfect update.
  2. Any speakers that are big enough that have marketing team ask that you can go directly to their marketing person.
  3. Reach out to the speakers directly with the content.  I kept giving them the content through the last day.  Make it easy as possible for them and I would have started that sooner.
